Lightberry Lumi: Founder Edition ships in 2026 under a conditional US approval
61 days left on the 2026 window · deadline Thursday, December 31, 2026
The claim
On October 30, 2026 Lightberry said its Lumi humanoid received approval from the U.S. Department of War and, on that basis, an exemption from the FCC Covered List by the FCC's Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau, making it, in the company's words, the first and only humanoid cleared by the US government. Lightberry says it replaces the robot's sensing hardware, onboard computer, and software with its own and plans US manufacturing starting with the body, head, and hands. Founder Edition units are $39,990 and “ship in 2026.”

Caveats baked in at the time
- The exemption rests on Lightberry's own announcement. The FCC's conditional-approval notices say approvals hold only with continued compliance with the applicant's onshoring plan and terminate, returning the device to the Covered List, if the terms are not met or the application misstated anything.
- The release gives no deadline for the onshoring commitments and no month for shipment.
What counts as met
Met if a Founder Edition Lumi is delivered to a paying US business customer by December 31, 2026, confirmed by Lightberry naming the customer or by the customer. The approval line resolves separately: confirmed when Lumi appears on the FCC's published Covered List exemptions.
Status as of Saturday, October 31, 2026
Reservations open at $39,990; no delivery reported. The FCC's public notice listing conditional approvals was not readable here, so Lumi's appearance on it is unconfirmed.
Lightberry's release and the FCC's general conditional-approval guidance. The specific FCC notice naming approved robots was not verified.
